New Years Commitment!

We are fast approaching the New Year and with that comes the wonderful opportunity to start fresh. I love the New Year and all the possibilities that it holds for each of us. There are personal opportunities, family opportunities, work opportunities and ministry opportunities. What a wonderful gift we each have been given to make the most of the opportunities that God has for us.

The Bible tells us in:  Ecclesiastes 3.1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

The New Year is a time for each of us to evaluate, plan, and dream of what could be. I would like to give you a few recommendations that will help you in the opportunities that all of us will have in 2017.

1. Commit to being thankful. Thankfulness is key in the life of every believer.

1Thessalonians 5.18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Take some time to reflect back on 2016 and spend time in prayer thanking God for how He provided for you, how He protected you, how He proved Himself strong to you.

Thank God for what He allowed you to accomplish in your personal walk with Him, in your job, in your family and in ministry.

Then move into 2017 and thank God in advance for the victories that He will allow you to see. Thank Him for the new and fresh opportunities to serve, your boss, your mate, your family, and your local church.

If you keep a thankful heart it will make all the difference in your life through out 2017.

2. Commit to being teachable. Teachable is an attitude of wanting to learn and knowing that you do not know it all. The one area that all of need to be more teachable is in the Word and ways of God.

Psalms 86.11 Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

Psalms 119.12   Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes.

This presupposes that you will be in the Word and prayer consistently through out the year. Set up a time a place where you will meet with God and I can assure you that if you have a teachable spirit toward the things of the Lord and you obey what He teaches you through His Word that you will be further along in your walk with God this time next year.

3. Commit to being tied in. What I am talking about is your local church. Commit to being tied in with your attendance, be at every service and special meeting. Get tied into giving, your tithe and offering, missions, building fund. Get tied into a ministry and stick with it! Take ownership without taking possession, and work whatever are of ministry you are in to the best of your ability.

If you commit to these three areas I believe that your 2017 will be a year filled with purpose. “…a time to every purpose under the heaven:”

Happy New Years my friends!
